Breda O'Donnell, Tinley Park High School junior

Breda O'Donnell is a Tinley Park resident and will be a junior at TPHS. She is a member of the varsity soccer team.

What is one essential you must have when studying?

I need my laptop. I can listen to music to help me concentrate, or research any topic I need.

What do you like to do when not in school or studying?

I'm always with my friends or playing soccer. But when I'm with my friends... I'm usually playing soccer.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is being a cop in the K-9 Unit. Law enforcement interests me and I love dogs.

What are some of your most played songs on your iPod?

Any Taylor Swift song is overplayed on my iPod. I never get sick of listening to her songs.

What is one thing people don't know about you?

I don't think there is something people don't know about me. I'm not afraid to tell people how I feel or what I think.

Whom do you look up to and why?

I look up to Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan. Both are players for the United States of America Women's National Soccer Team. They are hard working, they never give up, and they are game changers. I strive to play like them.

What do you keep under your bed?

I keep lots of random stuff under my bed. Puzzles, board games, videogames, pretty much anything.

Who is your favorite teacher and why?

There are many teachers that are contenders for this, but Mrs. Johnson would have to be my favorite. She was my teacher freshman year for PE. She's absolutely hilarious and probably the nicest person you'll meet.

What is your favorite class and why?

I think Spanish is my favorite class. I'm not sure why I like it so much. I also really liked Biology.

What's one thing that stands out about your school?

Everybody knows each other at Tinley. Some people from other schools are shocked that we pretty much know who everyone is. One of the perks to going to a small school.

What extracurricular(s) do you wish your school had?

I think it would be awesome if Tinley had a lacrosse or a handball team. I've never played either, but I've always thought lacrosse was cool, and the Olympics sparked my interest in handball.

What's your morning routine?

I wake up, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, put my contacts in, do my hair and get dressed. The whole process takes less than 15 minutes. Safe to say I'm not like most girls.

If you could change one thing about school what would it be?

I would want people to have more school pride. I hate it when people don't participate in homecoming week or get excited for football games or rivalry games. I'm that girl that paints her face and wears a Titan helmet.

What's your favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria?

The cookies! They are the best. Nothing beats a Tinley cookie.

What's your best memory from school?

My best memory from school is the soccer game vs. Oak Forest my freshman year. I scored two goals and we beat the Bengals 3-2. It was the best feeling ever.

Standout Student is a regular feature for The Tinley Junction. Nominations come from area schools.
