Fun with 3-D
Three Tinley businesses celebrate one year of Dinner, Dancing, Drinks

Just over a year ago, three businesses in Tinley Point Center, 7050 W. 183rd St., decided to join forces and offer a complete night out in which residents don't have to go anywhere — well, no farther than 20 yards.
Now, 14 months later, the Dinner, Dancing and Drinks event hosted by Vito and Nicks II, Heart & Sole Dance and Intimo Lounge, respectively, is very much alive and the disco edition was held Sept. 30.
"It's fun and something different," said Maren Oslac, owner and instructor of Heart & Sole. "People love it. We haven't had an empty session. People have even been to every single one."
The disco edition was the sixth installment of the 3D series and between 22-25 people signed up. On the evening, participants paid $35 for a pizza buffet with salad, soup and pop at Vito and Nicks II; a dance lesson learning The Hustle at Heart & Sole; and a nightcap of either a house martini, beer or glass of wine at Intimo.
The night on the town can even turn into a family affair. Christina Wright brought her brother, Johnny Seck; mother, Cindy Seck; and grandmother Geri Aird to enjoy the full evening.
Christina Urbanski, of Orland Park, has been to multiple events and is never disappointed.
"Maren is an excellent instructor," Urbanski said. "It's a fun and local event. You get great bang for your buck."
Oslac said about one-third of the 3D events have sold out, with the maximum number of participants set at 45. But the group has gotten larger than that. Simon said one event got to 55 people and she had to hit up Culver's for extra plastic plates and silverware.
Because of the space limitations at Intimo, and Vito and Nicks II, Oslac said the maximum number will probably be reduced to 35.
The hosts are still looking for the perfect formula, however. Not every event has sold out, which is the goal.
The next event is not yet planned, but Oslac and Simon said if there is a fifth Wednesday in a month, that is usually the perfect date. The next one is in December on Dec. 30.
The hosts are considering that date, but are unsure of people's interest in a date that deep in the holiday season. Simon and Oslac both requested suggestions.
But if Dec. 30 does not pan out, look for another 3D in the near future.
