I was 18 years old when I moved away for college. 

Up until that point, I had no concept of what it was like to live outside the comfort of my home. I was naive to think that sleeping over at friends’ houses or spending one weekend at a summer camp were comparable experiences to the life that was about to unfold, as soon as my father brought in the last box of my belongings to my dorm room.
