An unknown suspect robbed GameStop — located at 16205 S. Harlem Ave. in Tinley Park — the afternoon of Sunday, July 14, according to a post on the official Village of Tinley Park Public Safety Facebook page.

At approximately 12:55 p.m., Tinley Park police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the store, the post reads.

The offender was reportedly armed with a rifle and "struck" an employee’s forehead with the weapon, according to Sgt. Patrick St. John. The employee was treated on scene by EMS personnel and St. John said “physically, he’s fine.”

St. John said, “he did what he’s supposed to do; he gave up the money [and] didn’t put up any kind of struggle.”

St. John added that there was a “good sum of money taken.”

The man reportedly fled northbound on Harlem Avenue. He was observed driving a white Honda CRV, bearing Illinois registration 305766 that was reported stolen July 3 from Park Forest, according to the social media post.

“I’m pretty confident— actually I’m very confident— that he’s not in the area anymore," St. John said." They steal these cars and they go all over the place."
