The Tinley Park Police Department is no longer searching for three, possibly armed suspects as an investigation determined the alleged robbery Monday, Aug. 12, did not occur, according to the official Village of Tinley Park Public Safety Facebook page.

"After investigation by TPPD officers and detectives, the victim has recanted the version of events in the reported armed robbery," the post reads. "The armed robbery that was reported is UNFOUNDED."

An initial post by the public safety page alerted residents that an armed robbery occurred in the area of 161st Street and 84th Avenue, and three black suspects were reportedly on the loose, and at least one was armed.

As of Thursday, Aug. 15, Police Chief Matthew Walsh told The Junction in an email that the incident is "still pending investigation."

The report came nearly one week after a robbery occurred Aug. 6 at the Bank of America in Tinley Park.
